Installing the ChatDek Widget on Your Website

To install ChatDek, copy the snippet from the Install Guide page in the portal and paste it into your website just before the closing </body> tag. It works on WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Webflow, Squarespace and any site where you can add a script. There is nothing else to download or activate.

In short

Copy your ChatDek snippet from the Install Guide and paste it before </body> on WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Webflow, Squarespace or any site that allows scripts.

Step by step

Where do I find my install snippet?

Log in at app.chatdek.com and open Install Guide. Your snippet looks like this, with your own key in place of YOUR_KEY:

<script src="https://widget.chatdek.com/widget.js" data-key="YOUR_KEY" async></script>

If you run more than one website, select the right one in the website switcher before you copy the snippet. The Install Guide also has step-by-step guides for common platforms.

Where do I paste it?

Paste the snippet once, just before the closing </body> tag, so it loads on every page. Most website builders have a setting for footer code or custom code.

WordPress: add it to your theme's footer, or use any tool your site already has for adding code to the footer.

Shopify: go to Online Store, Themes, Edit code, open theme.liquid and paste it before </body>.

Wix, Webflow and Squarespace: use the custom code or code injection setting for the site footer. Some builders only allow custom code on paid site plans.

Menu names on each platform can change, so check the platform's help pages if you cannot find the setting.

How do I check it is working?

Open your website in a new private window. The chat launcher should appear in the corner you chose in Widget Setup.

In the Install Guide, use Test installation to check whether ChatDek has seen visitors on your site. It looks for chat sessions in the last 7 days, so open the widget once yourself if your site is new.

If it does not appear, check that the snippet was saved and published, clear any caching on your site, and make sure your ChatDek plan is active. Still stuck? Contact us and we will take a look.

Do I need to reinstall after changing settings?

No. Changes you make in Widget Setup and the Knowledge Base show on your website without touching the snippet again.
